COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CARDBOARD AND PAPER, EMBOSSING, TOP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to MIL-C-43397.
1. CLASSIFICATION.
1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers embossing material of the following types (see 5.2).
Type I- Embossing top paper- 12 inches by 10 inches
Type II- Cardboard- 44 inches by 28 inches
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
2.1 Type I. The embossing top paper shall consist of a sheet of paper uniformly coated on one side with heat sensitive adhesive. The paper shall not block to the extent that sheets cannot be separated without surface pick, delamination or loss of coating. The paper shall emboss satisfactorily without surface cracking, scuffing, tearing, delamination or sticking to the embossing die. The embossed letters shall firmly adhere to the backing cardboard. The color of the embossing top paper (see 5.1.1) shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 5.2). The embossing top paper shall conform to the requirements specified in table I.
