(3) Sampling for Tests. For the curl test, a random sample of stencilboard shall be taken from each lot. The inspection level shall he S-1 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall be one sheet. TAPPI tests shall be in accordance with TAPPI T 400 for the applicable TAPPI test methods.
(4) Sampling for Preparation for Delivery. For examination of the preparation for delivery. The sample unit shall be one shipping container fully prepared for delivery, selected at random. The inspection level shall be S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective.
C. Inspections.
(1) Visual Examination. Samples taken in accordance with paragraph 4.B.1. shall be examined to verify that the superficial product requirements are in compliance with Section 1.
(2) Dimensional Examination. Samples taken in accordance with paragraph 4.B.2. shall he examined to verify that all dimensionally measurable product requirements are in compliance with Section 1.
(3) Tests. Samples taken in accordance with paragraph 4.B.3. shall be subjected to the following tests to demonstrate consistency in product functionality, durability, and performance expectations.
(a) For basis weight use TAPPI test method T-410.
(b) For bursting strength use TAPPI test method T-403. (c) For grain use TAPPI test method T-409.
(d) For thickness use TAPPI test method T-411.
(e) Curl test: Two specimens, 30.48 centimeters by 30.48 centimeters (12 inches by 12 inches), shall be placed on a clean, dry, flat surface; one specimen with the felt side up and the other with the wire side up. If the specimen shows an edge curl; measure, to the nearest
.40 millimeter (1/64 inch), the perpendicular distance from the supporting surface to the down face of the specimen at the edge.
(4) Examination for Preparation for Delivery. Samples taken in accordance with paragraph
4.B.4. shall be examined to determine compliance with Section 5.
5. PACKAGTNG AND PACKING PROVISIONS. Each stencilboard shall be packaged to prevent damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. Packaged stencilboard shall be packed in accordance with normal commercial practice. The packing container shall be closed to prevent accidental opening and shall be such to insure carrier acceptable and safe delivery to destination, complying with the rules and regulations applicable to the mode of transportation to be used.
